Gail and Trish met in 1991 and knew having a family would be a priority.
They had no idea that they would not just begin their own journey to create a family, but also assist thousands of others in starting their own family journeys. Their dreams of family we're not so different than any others who desired a family and needed a little help. Trish desired a biological connection but did not want to become pregnant at the time. Trish's brother offered to be their donor.
They successfully became pregnant through artificial insemination, with Gail carrying their daughter, Chloe and later their son Junah, through artificial insemination with Gail via an anonymous donor. Trish went on to eventually became a surrogate herself in 2002, delivering a healthy baby boy for a couple in New York. As gay parents and now grandparents, the Taylor's embarked on Founding three groundbreaking corporation's that continue to thrive in our surrogacy industry today.
Breaking Barriers in the Surrogacy Industry
Before co-founding their own agency, Gail worked at a Los Angeles surrogacy and egg donation agency, The Center for Surrogate Parenting, that was instrumental in creating some of the original surrogacy laws in California. During her tenure, she discovered the surrogate industry's limited acceptance of the LGBTQ community. Many gay male friends of the Taylors faced severe challenges in adopting children and were often blocked by surrogacy and egg donation agencies. Gail's experiences led her and Trish to advocate for the rights of gay men to create their own families through surrogacy and eventually breaking down barriers in the medical and legal professions and laying the groundwork for today's widespread acceptance and practice of surrogacy and egg donation.
Founding a Surrogacy Agency
In 1995, the couple co-founded one of the first surrogacy agencies dedicated to providing surrogacy for the gay community worldwide, Growing Generations. Gail Taylor led the firm as its president, making it a leading global surrogacy agency until her retirement in 2010. Their vision of providing equality in the surrogacy industry has facilitated thousands of gay families in achieving their dreams of having a biological connection to their children.
Advancing Surrogacy and Insurance Needs
Trish was inspired to create New Life Agency, Inc. after understanding the risk and need for insurance in her first surrogacy agency and within the assisted reproduction professional community, her next 20 years in business was dedicated to the insurance needs of the surrogacy industry. Trish, as a Lloyds of London Coverholder and surplus lines insurance broker, revolutionized how surrogacy, egg donation, and infertility treatments are covered through insurance programs today.
Expanding Horizons: Choice Surrogacy Inc.®
Having owned and developed her own companies since she was 19 years old, including an assisted reproductive technology insurance firm where many of her current competitors were once clients, Trish noticed that the surrogacy industry was not progressing as envisioned by herself and Gail. In 2013, founding Choice Surrogacy represented a return to her foundational principles, enabling her to leverage her extensive experience from both the insurance and surrogacy professions, thereby causing a paradigm shift in the services offered by a surrogacy agency. Trish aimed to put the heart back into surrogacy and to de-commoditize an industry that she saw was fulfilling more business needs instead of human needs. Thus, she made it more affordable with all-inclusive streamlined financial programs for those wishing to create families combined with offering innovative increased compensation to surrogates and providing personal attention for both partes all along the way.
